Hu Ge

Hu Ge (born 20 September 1982 in Shanghai, China), is a Chinese actor and singer. While he was studying at the Shanghai Theater Academy, he was invited to play the leading role Li Xiaoyao in the 2005 television series ''Chinese Paladin'', and immediately skyrocketed to fame as one of China's most popular idol actors. In September 2012, he was nominated for Best Newcomer at the 31st Hundred Flowers Awards for his role as Lin Juemin in Chinese historical film 1911.
==Early life==
Hu is an only child, born and raised in Shanghai. During his kindergarten years, he was one of sixty children chosen from over thirty thousand to attend SMG's Little Stars Performing Arts School (Xiao Yingxing Yishu Tuan) and stopped in Grade 6. Hu Ge started his onscreen career as a 14-year-old host on Shanghai Educational Television (Shanghai Jiao Yu Dianshitai), and hosted the show Sunny Youth (Yangguang Shaonian) for three years.
Hu took an examination for the "art of directing" at Central Academy of Drama and achieved an excellent score, making him the top student nationwide. However, due to his parents' wishes, he also took an exam for the "art of performance" at Shanghai Theatre Academy, came third overall and ultimately chose to complete his tertiary education there, graduating in July 2005. While in the Academy, Hu met and befriended classmates Justin Yuan and Cecilia Liu, whom he would later collaborate with in numerous television projects.
